Dear Friends, This Sunday, Jesus asks one of the most important questions found anywhere in the Gospel: “What profit would there be for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life?” (Matthew 16:26). It is a question worth sitting with. We spend much of our lives working, planning, building, achieving, and preparing for the future. None of these things are wrong. But Jesus asks us to look deeper. He asks us not simply, “What are you accomplishing with your life?” but “Who are you becoming?”

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, There are many questions Jesus asks throughout the Gospels, but perhaps none is more personal or more important than the question He asks His disciples in this Sunday’s Gospel: “But who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15).
